It was hard to categorize this site. Where is the line between drawing and illustration, for example? I arbitrarily decided to lump all of the traditionally created artwork into the Traditional category, and used the Design and Illustration categories for computer and/or digitally generated artwork. These pen and inks were drawn using a quill pen and India Ink on either Bristol Board or acid-free vellum. I also included some colored pencil drawings.

Queen Anne Victorian View through jailhouse window St. Thomas Church Taunton Cape Cod Cottage
Queen Anne Victorian - A pen and ink drawing of a house built in 1890 that I used to own and lovingly restored, keeping all the architectural character intact. The new owner put vinyl siding on it after all the money I paid to restore the original clapboard siding! ARRGGGHHH!
Jailhouse Window - View of a church steeple out of my hotel room window at the Jailhouse Inn, Newport, Rhode Island, where I stayed while attending an art festival. It used to be an actual jailhouse, and this was the view that prisoners must have had. I wonder if any of them repented?
St. Thomas Episcopal Church - A beautiful old church in Taunton, Massachusetts.
Cape Cod Cottage - A whimsical pen and ink (drawn while I was still living in the city and only dreaming of moving to Cape Cod) showing a tiny cottage with roses growing over the entry.
god loves you Greek Revival Shady Home Cambridge Townhouse
God Loves You - A pen and ink based on a sermon I heard at church. The sermon was given by the bishop who baptised me. He took his own life several years later, when it was publicly disclosed that he was gay. This sketch reminds me of him. He was a good man. May he rest in peace.
Greek Revival Architecture - A pen and ink with ink wash based upon this architectural style as typically seen in the New England area.
Shady Home - This was a commission done using Berol colored pencils on Bristol Board. The shadows cast by the sunlight through the pine trees was so beautiful.
Cambridge Townhouse - A commission of a beautiful townhouse in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Done using Berol colored pencils on Bristol Board. The bars on the windows behind the lovingly cared-for flower boxes in front of the bars was sad, yet hopeful in a strange way.
Star Theatre Taunton
Front elevation artist's concept rendition of proposed historic renovation of the old Star Theatre, Taunton, MA. I was working as an intern at the time I did this drawing.
Gesture drawings done while I was taking a life drawing class. This link goes to my .Mac site, but be forwarned that there is nudity because we drew live, nude models.
The Smith Residence - This was a commission done as a gift from a son to his parents. It was the home they had raised their family in. He insisted that the fire hydrant should be included! I didn't ask.
Another commission done as a gift for a person's brother and his wife of a new home they had built here on Cape Cod. A very beautiful home, but not your typical Cape Cod cottage.
